AMC CAT MCQ exam dates for 2026 and 2027

How booking works

To sit the AMC CAT MCQ you pay the AMC for a CAT MCQ authorisation, then schedule the exam with Pearson VUE. The authorisation covers one examination event in the 12 months from payment, and the AMC does not extend it. From 9.00am AEST on 1 October 2026 the AMC no longer charges a card payment surcharge.

Scheduling for each window closes 21 days before its first test day, or 22 days before for the two windows that start on a Tuesday, in April and June 2027. Until then a booking can be moved free of charge, if a seat is available. After the closing date no changes are possible, so a candidate who cannot sit must withdraw or reschedule before it; otherwise the authorisation and the payment are forfeited.

Test days, venues and results

The windows are for the AMC CAT MCQ, often called AMC Part 1. Each has four to six consecutive test days. The 2026 windows run from Monday to Saturday. The 2027 windows have four days, from Monday to Thursday, except April and June, which run from Tuesday to Friday. Each candidate sits the exam on one of those days, at the centre they choose when scheduling with Pearson VUE. The AMC's list gives the same test days for venues in Australia and elsewhere.

Results are released in the AMC candidate portal at 4.00pm on the Friday three weeks after the exam. The AMC does not say which time zone the 4.00pm refers to, so the dates on this page carry no time. The pass mark page explains how the result is scored.

In the AMC's list, one row for each of the July and August 2027 windows prints the closing date as a Sunday, 21 June and 26 July 2027. Both dates are Mondays, and every other row for those windows gives Monday. The AMC also says it may add dates during a year, so the list can grow.

Planning around a window

The 12 months of an authorisation run from the day of payment, so the payment date decides which windows are open to you. With a payment date, the calendar above shows which windows fall inside those 12 months.

Only one attempt can be in progress at a time. The AMC does not accept another application until the results of a scheduled exam have been received. For a candidate who sits in November 2026, results come on Friday 11 December 2026, so a further attempt could not be applied for before then. The first window after that date is February 2027, which closes for scheduling on Monday 25 January 2027.

Dates the calendar marks as suggested are ours rather than the AMC's. They follow the phases of the study plan in the platform, with timed mixed practice from about six to seven weeks before the first test day and a final fortnight of mocks and review with no new topics.
